His expertise in printing books definitely relayed over to his seeing the utility of paper money. He knew how to make it hard to replicate, and he understood the political infrastructure needed to get people to trust it. I'm sure (after learning from the video) that Franklin would have pushed for paper money over gold.
That question of infrastructure and trust has been on my mind since the @sndbox post in the nature of cryptocurrency. Lots to think about here!
