I guess that could be an interpretation of the ones with men sitting in them however I'm not convinced.
Obviously the artist weren't painting events they witnessed however there were a number of secret societies especially during the Renaissance that tried to disseminate information that church leaders had deemed heretical.
Who knows mate, it's a fantastic mystery though and one that will be debated for a long time no doubt.
