History of bloodshed at Simpang KKA during martial law

Friday night
on April 30, 1999, at around 20.30 pm, the people of Cot Murong Village, Dewantara District, held a grand meeting to commemorate 1 Muharram which coincided with 30 April 1999.by the security forces, the 1 Muharram warning that is usually organized by Islamic communities everywhere throughout Aceh Province, is called a lecture of the Free Aceh Movement (Gerakan Aceh Merdeka, GAM).
then came the news that a member of the TNI from Unity Den Rudal Unit 001 / Pulo Rungkom Sergeant, named Adityawarman, disappeared during the infiltration in the middle of lecture activities (Description Kapuspen TNI, the name of the missing member is Sergeant Chief Edi, from Den Missile 001 / Pulo Rungkom, North Aceh).It is not clear whether members of the TNI were properly lost or other possibilities occurred, but certainly no one from the population knows of its existence. It was reported that at that time no less than 20 people were persecuted by TNI members. the practice of violence and abuse by acting violently, slapping and beating until injury, has occurred.
when the action was launched, the residents had time to record the words issued by the TNI members saying "WE WILL SHOOT ALL PEOPLE WHEN A MEMBER OF OUR MEMBERS ARE NOT FOUND".

aware of the worrisome condition, then residents from Murong Village and the villages onga such as West Lancang Village, Nisam District and Paloh Lada, consisting of youth, women, parents and children gathered to prevent further possible persecutionlet alone the military has issued a threat that is quite scary.Suddenly, at 13.00 pm came another TNI troop consisting of 7 trucks of TNI members to the location of kenduri. Seeing that, people who have gathered from various parts of the District try to block.

at 14.00 pm, a negotiation took place between the Dewantara sub-district and the Dewantara sub-district, known as the MUI of the District: "The TNI will not come to Cot Murong Village for any reason".

Then came the Head of Dewantara, Drs. Marzuki Amin to KKA Simpang and start negotiating with the TNI apparatus. The apparatus is stubborn and the negotiations are stuck. the camat still holds to the previous agreement that has been agreed by the community with the Dewantara Koramil which in essence the TNI no longer perform operations in their area. The negotiations lasted long enough. Time is showing almost at 12.00 pm.
