History has always been our passion, but it doesn't pay... but we do it anyway.
We’re a team of history nerds who create audio stories thinking about the past and its dynamics within the Scottish context. Sometimes zooming right out to track change across the country; economic booms, decline and bust; tribal and feudal society; wars of independence and of empire. Or zooming right down to cities and individuals to gain a sense of how the past might have felt or sounded to approach a higher resolution on the life stories which developed in response to the challenges and opportunities of the day: the Celtic farmer, ship building, the Glaswegian entrepreneur, factories, the miner, democracy, the film and pub goer, shaping and being shaped by the natural environment.
The show is made possible from the work of historians of Scotland and their books and as always we will go out of our way to give adequate shout outs in recognition of the ideas, facts and perspectives which they have forged in the libraries, history departments and archives of Scotland. In many ways we’re like a garage band doing rock and roll covers of lyrics found in the analog books and journals of long-held tradition.
