In Quebec, the professional practice of community organization has its source in the history of community life. From the beginning of the 1960s, "citizen committees" from the working classes mobilized themselves to improve their social situation, whether to defend the maintenance of cheap housing in the old neighborhoods struggling with urban renewal or to promote local economic development in rural areas.
yea not a fan of the professionalism of community organizing. Think these faux democracies concerned mostly on zoning and making property rights ambiguous have helped with teh war on drugs and general lawlessness in our societies.
