The History Of "Monopoly"
Elizabeth Magee was born in 1866 in the United States. She invented the Board game "Landowner", which was the precursor to "Monopoly". The essence of the game was to show the negative impact on society monopoly on land. "Landlord" quickly became popular among Elizabeth's acquaintances, so she patented the game in 1903.
A patent for the game "the Landlord". The original game, unfortunately, has not survived.
In 1921, the patent ended, and Maggie was in no hurry to renew it. The "landlord" quickly became popular, and students at some colleges made copies of it themselves.
13 years later, in the midst of the great depression, a Charles Darrow showed the company "Parker brothers" project "Monopoly", which soon became the best-selling game in the United States. Elizabeth Magee was very indignant, but all rights to the game belonged to Charles.
As compensation, Parker brothers released several Elizabeth Board games.
