How conversant are you with the story behind the saying above? It is an interesting love story of Àrọ̀nì and Oníkòyí? It so happened that Àrọ̀nì was a beautiful princess. Her beauty was so great that the king decided to give her hand in marriage to a man of substance; a man of valor; a superhero. Such a man is difficult to find, but it was soon found in Oníkòyí who was from the lineage of warriors.

Oníkòyí was tall, handsome and courageous. He had fought many wars and won. Àrọ̀nì fell in love with Oníkòyí at first sight, so they arranged the date of their wedding, during which their character and patience will be put to test especially Oníkòyí 's.

Oníkòyí the son of great warriors. He who could cough out thousands of arrows. He who could break the back of thousands at wrestling. Swift like cheetah, agile like monkey. One thing Oníkòyí lacks is patience. He couldn't wait to have Àrọ̀nì in his arms. So, he would go and wait at the pathway to the river to meet his love and play with her each time she had opportunity to venture out. On one occasion he had been reported to the king of defiling Àrọ̀nì but upon getting to the king's court, he announced that he only played with the newly plaited hair of Àrọ̀nì and nothing more.
