Folk Dance Competition : Karatong Subli

If filipino are asking what's our "Filipino Culture " then basically it is . We have our owned diverse culture influence by our ancestors and during Spanish era .

It's a nice and great honor to be part in the dance contest ,where a contest aimed at seeing our cultures .The cultures that have taken time out of modern thinking and practices .

We use to dance " Karatung Subli" and good thing is we won as Champion back then during Fiesta Celebration of San Isidro Labrador in Sitio Tag-ibo ,Dalipuga Iligan City.

"Karatong Subli" is inspired in Bungga Mangga from Cuyo , Palawan . The dancers ( boys ) uses kalatong / Karatong or Bamboo tube , tied horizontally under the waist with two sticks to tap sychronizely to the rythm of the dance.The other dancers ( women ) collect flowers from the mango tree.The music have Spanish influence , it's similar to Mexican music folk combine with asiatic tradition/Filipino tradition.
