Prehistoric settlement of Poetovia now covered with a Town's SPA

Terme Ptuj (originally: Ptujske toplice) is a thermal and recreational complex in the municipality of Ptuj on the right bank of the river Drava, which was opened in 1975. It lies about 2.5 km east of the main road Maribor-Gruškovje at an altitude of about 230 m above sea level, a shoot away from the center of town Ptuj with a beautiful view of Ptuj Castle.
Water is defined as sodium bicarbonate, slightly alkaline, low mineral water having a temperature of 39 ° C.

On the site where the spa is today, once lay the prehistoric settlement of Poetovia, of which nothing remains. Today, all 14 pools cover a total of 4,200 m2 of water surfaces. The current owner of the thermal complex is the Sava Hotels & Resorts chain.
