Post WWII US Navy Sallers At The Sea USS Sandoval APA-194 Attach Transport Ship (Old Picture Album #7 ）

USS Sandoval (APA-194/LPA-194) was a Haskell-class attack transport acquired by the U.S. Navy during World War II for the task of transporting troops to and from combat areas.

She transported troops for Iwo Jima landing and was hit by a Kamikaze air attack later at Saipan, The kamikaze crashed into the portside of the wheelhouse. 6 officers and sallers were killed. She resumed duty in two days.

She participated in Korean war and Vietnam war. Retired in 1970.
