RE: The Battle of Wigan Lane - 25th August 1651
Howdy sir stemonkey! Very interesting history in your own backyard practically! Many men died right there but it's not clear what they were fighting for, sounded to me like a couple of political parties!
It was one of the last battles of the English Civil War (1642 - 1651) where Oliver Cromwells Parliamentary Republicans eventually ousted the monarchy leading to 9 years of republican rule before the monarchy was restored in 'The restoration' in 1661 and Charles II was returned to the throne.
howdy today sir steemonkey! well those were some tumultous times weren't they? Hey I forgot to tell you how much I like that hat of yours, it's a classic. Almost a classic cowboy hat.
Around this time, the British govt began to tighten it's grip on the commerce within the American colonies thus starting the tensions that would escalate over the next century until the American revolution started in 1765.
I thought you might like the hat bein a Texan. It's an Australian bush hat but it looks the same as a hat from round your part of the world to me. I love it. It's cool in summer, warm in winter and has a chin strap for those windy days :)
howdy again sir steemonkey! Well that is very interesting and of course your entire country is so steeped in history and historic battles and so forth probably everywhere you go, much longer ago too than over here. Oh yes the hat is perfect! Extremely handsome headgear. is it leather I assume? It looks expensive.
Howdy sir, yes it's leather. They're not too expensive. About $40 - $50 online. Indeed there is a lot of history here. I will make more videos soon. Keep an eye out ;)
howdy today sir steemonkey! oh that's very cool, I love history and you have an endless source of it there, very good idea, just keep wearing that hat! lol.
