Why is History Boring?

History - learning from failures

I am always astonished when I hear older people saying history is boring. I would understand the younger ones that are into all the new digital ways of information and communication. The older ones might simply have experience bad things in the past and do not want to look back! I think it is important to be aware of historic facts. You do not have to dive into like a scientist and analyse every piece but to understand why certain things happened is key to educate the younger ones about it. Mankind has to learn from its history - otherwise this planet Earth will not exist a lot longer I am afraid

It's too important, and not so that we don't repeat our past mistakes; instead, history shouldn't be boring because it teaches us so much about who we are the universal things that we all experience, no matter our age, label, or time period. History helps us to build empathy, and it helps us to understand each other.

And History is Fun too

Might be a personal thing, some people like technology, others cooking, others sports, music - I love to watch old movies and the recap of historic happenings so much. To see how these people dressed, spoke, behaved is fun to me. The only thing missing which ahrdly any of the new media channels can transport - I would like to smell history, smell the past. Some people might say I am a freak - be happy you did not smell that.

As the study of change, history identifies the driving forces behind cultures. A culture's history is integral to the shared identities of its members, and you can't see the full picture of a culture without understanding the history behind it. 2. History helps us understand our own society.

Anyway - History is a great part of my life and I hope the majority of our species is also interested in this History Thing!

I had on high school very nice teacher of history. He didn't want from us learn dates and years. He wanted to understand the relationship. That was pretty fun.

I love history! I am an avid fan of history as I like to listen about great stories.

To understand the future we must know what mistakes we have made in past . Generals like Montogomery,Rommel and Guderian are clearest example of that. Trying to start my own history blog, not a great start but I am sure that I will kick off some day and have audience like you do. Cheers

Personally, I love history. If you are going to understand the present and anticipate the future you need to have a historical perspective. For example, when civilizations die, it always begins with the corruption of the currency. I actually made a video on this. I wish people would learn this lesson!
