Oh these Americans!

On this day 36 years a go a former Hollywood actor spezialized in Wild West / Cowboy movies became President of the United States of America - he was the 40th US president from 1981-1989. Used to play sheriff n his movies he also became kind of the Sheriff of the US and the Western World.

As president Reagan redefined local politics back to conservatism and away from the liberal Democrats and still positioned himself as this good guy from the West, riding horses on his ranch and saving the world from all evil, mainly from communists in the USSR.

In his young hears he was a democrat but changed into an outspoken anticommunist, joined the Republican Party and became governor of California in 1967. If we take a look at the current US president we might now appreciate much more the personality of Ronald Reagan who died on June 5, 2004.
