Time of Religion - Reformation in Europe

On January 3, 1521, Pope Leo X issues the bull Decet Romanum Pontificem to excommunicate Martin Luther from the Catholic Church in Germany. Martin Luther was driving Protestantism as probably the first across the continent. He used to be a monk and professor of biblical interpretation at the University of Wittenberg. He decided to write and pin his 95 theses why the Catholic Church is simply corrupt and useless with all their old fashioned traditions, use of Latin language and asking Christians for money so they could get rid of their sins!

He was a powerful speaker and totally focused on his idea. The Catholic Church which ruled most of the entire society these days had issues obviously and the result was the excommunication of Luther by the pope.

Later in the year 1521 Luther was called to defend his beliefs in front of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms, where he was famously defiant. As he refused to recant his thesis he became an official outlaw, luckily he was protected by a powerful German Lord. His writings changed the entire society in the Western World!
