Nemrut Mountain and Mysterious Giant Sculptures
Hi Friends.
Nemrut Mountain is a historical and beautiful mountain in Adiyaman, Turkey. Every year, a lot of local or foreign tourists visit to this mountain to see the Giant Sculptures. They are not known exactly; who did make them, and when were they done?
This is the Eastern and Western Civilization, 2150 m. It is the intersection of a magnificent pyramid at height. The height of these fascinating sculptures is about 10 meters. There are also inscriptions of lengths of several meters on this mountain and they are in UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Mount Nemrut is the place where the world's best sunrises and sunsets can be seen, as well as the huge statues and monumental graves it hosts. Every year thousands of people come to Nemrut Mountain to watch the sunrise and sunset. There are also Kommagene civilization works in here and this mountain is a National Park in Turkey.
History: Having solved the Greek-language inscription after a long period of study, Punchstein discovered that these works belonged to the Commagene Civilization and were built by Antiochos I, the King of Commagene. The inscription written in the mouth of Antiochos contains the secret of Mount Nemrut and the laws of Antiochos.
The excavations that led to the emergence of the Commagene Civilization were carried out in Arsameia, Samsat and Firat Basins other than Mount Nemrut. Portable artifacts discovered in the excavations made in the region were preserved in the mosques and the rest were protected in the National Park Area. About Commagene Civilization: Commagene, meaning the Greek "Generation Community", is a powerful kingdom, which, by its name, is an integral part of the beliefs, cultures and traditions of Greek and Persian civilizations. The ancient Commagene Kingdom located at the junction of the various roads in the Taurus Mountains took place in fertile soil surrounded by Syria in the north, Hatay, Pinarbasi, the Northern Taurus and the Euphrates River in the east.
