The Bloodiest Revenge Of The History

I want to tell about a story which is not very well know but definitely the bloodiest revenge story in history.

It is the story of a really angry woman. It is the story of Olga of Kiev. Olga was born in 890 and died in 969. She was the ruler of Kievan Rus and she is also known as Saint Olga due to her efforts to spread christianity through the Russian.

Before everything started, Olga probably haf a quiet and happy life with her husband Igor, the prince of Kiev.

Drevians was one of the neighbours of Kievan Rus and like many rising empires Kievan Rus was asking their neighbours to pay tributes. But one day Drevians decided to stop paying the tribute. It was too much for them.

Prince Igor decided to visit Drevians himself to collect the tribute. Personally I think he passed the thin line between courage and stupidity. He was murdered by Drevians.

Drevians wanted to get rid of the tributes and they believed everything would be better without Igor. Only thing they had to after Igor's death was to handle a weak and widow woman. They were even planing a marriage between Olga and Drevian prince.

They told Olga about their plan.

Olga was cool.

Olga was quiet.

She told Drevians she was open for the idea of a new marriage. She asked their noblemen to visit her. Everything was going great for Drevians, they sailed to go and take their new bride.

When they arrived to city, Olga sent her servants to Drevian ship and asked them to stay in their ship for the night. She told them she was planing to welcome them into the city in the morning with a ceremony and she prepared a special wooden setup to carry them into the city.

But Olga had different plans.

That night, she asked her men to dig a hole in the city. The hole which she was planing to thow the Drevians into while carrying them with her special wooden set up. And she did it. Drevians were shocked. They were trying to understand what was going on. Then They saw Olga with a smile in her face. She only said "Burn".

After what she did, Olga sent messenger to Drevians and she asked them to send their highest level nobles including the prince if the really wanted her to marry with the prince. She would consider anything else as disrespect.

Dreivans thought this was an opportunity. They wanted to get rid of tributes but now they had the chance to rule the whole country. They accepted.

When the second group of Drevians arrived, Olga asked them to visit the bath house because they were tired and dirty.
Drevians understood the plan after all the doors of the bath house was locked when they were inside but it was too late.

Olga burned them alive.

Burning 2 Drevian groups alive was not enough for Olga. She sent messengers to Drevians and told them she would be visiting their capital soon to organise a funeral fest for her husband. Drevians still were not aware of what happened to their nobles and they started to get ready for the fest.

Olga arrived. She ordered her men to serve as much wine as they could and she let Drevians to drink until they were insensible. Like always Olga was quiet until she began...

That night, her soldiers pulled 5.000 drevians of sword.

Olga turned back to Kiev but for sure what she did was not enough for her. She started to build and army to kill the remaining Drevians.

But Drevians were smarter now. They sent a messenger to Olga and told her they had no more plans for the throne and they were ready to pay and tributes she asks.

Olga told them it was enough and she forgive them.And to show her mercy, she told them she was not asking for heavy tributes like her husband, three pigeons and three swallows from each house as a gift would be enough.

Drevians were happy. because of this symbolic tribute. They caught the pigeons and swallows which made nest to their houses and sent them to Olga.

But Olga again had a plan. She asked her soldiers to attach by thread to each pigeon and swallow a piece of sulfur bound with small pieces of cloth.

When night came she ordered her soldiers to fire the the cloth and release the birds. The birds flew back to their nests.

That night all the Drevian housed were burned at the same time. It was not possible to quench the fire in that chaos.

Some of the Drevians managed to run out of the town but Olga's army was already there to catch the escapers and to kill them.

She is definitely my favorite saint!
