The American dream IS immigration
America was built as a land where foreign people could come and build a life, have a family and gain wealth. It was built by immigrants as a land where people from many different cultures could all live amongst each other, succeed and build a happy life.
America was built by immigrants for immigrants, it was built as a land of opportunity where people from all around the globe could start a new free life full of hope.
It seems that people often forget that white people can also be immigrants, I see many white Americans saying how they are 100% american which is just absurd to claim as there family would have only been there for an absolute maximum of 500 years, and through that time it is exceedingly likely that they have family members that came over more recently in one of the larger waves of immigration over the past few hundred years.
You can even blatantly tell that america has been built by immigrants because of the various different accents throughout. Accents are formed when people coming from different countries migrate to the same area and through the regular communication people pick up certain words or ways of saying things from other people, over long enough periods these things picked up become permanent and more widely spoken until it becomes the most common accent in said area. America having so many different accents throughout just shows that vast amounts of people all from different areas coming together.
I urge everyone to look into where their accent comes from as it really does give a better idea of our collective history. There are of course many other examples I could use as American history is pretty well documented.
My opinion:
Immigration is a widely debated topic that always comes up in the news and world politics as it is a big concern for many countries, I personally see immigration as a good thing because when lots of different cultures come together there is always something new to learn from each other. I also understand why people want restrictions on immigration and I personally believe that there should be restrictions as it would cause a lot of issues if too many people migrated at once however I don't think the restrictions should be discriminatory and based on race or gender.
Each country has its own policy on immigration and that is completely understandable as there are a lot of factors to take into account however I feel people as a whole should be more willing to welcome people from all over the world into their county.
It is understandable being more willing to accept people who offer a skill much needed by your country however I also think in situations where wars are going on we should allow more people safe refuge because if I was living in a war torn country I would do whatever I could to try and get my family away.
