The louvre to visit in Paris. Never disappointed
descriptive
Every visit to the capital is worth a visit to the Louvre, as the largest museum in Paris is full of treasures. It brings together works of Western art from the Middle Ages to 1848, ancient Eastern, Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan, Roman, graphic arts and Islamic arts civilizations. From room to room, the former royal palace reveals its masterpieces: the Mona Lisa, The Raft of the Medusa, the Venus of Milo, The Victory of Samothrace ...
In total, some 35,000 works! In eight centuries of existence, the Louvre has been marked by many architectural trends, from the medieval fortress of the twelfth century to the glass pyramid of Pei (1989).
Last addition: the architects Mario Bellini and Rudy Ricciotti have signed the new showcase hosting the Arts of Islam, an undulating glass roof covering the courtyard Visconti and flooding light the 2,800 m² of the new department.
The visit of the museum is particularly pleasant during the nocturnes: less busy, the Louvre offers a different atmosphere and breathtaking views of the Pyramid of Pei, Cour Carrée and the Seine.
