Reenactement : How a 13th century knight looks like ?

in #history7 years ago

Hi,
I am a French reenactor, i am not a historian, but i like to stude old manuscripts, minuatures or effigies .
The purpose is to recreate the details , and try to have clothes and armour the most realistics as possible !

I would like to share the results, and later i will show you some videos and training.
Cause, before ride a horse with armour, you have to train : how to wear it, how to use spear, shield and sword !

I share with you some "historical sources" i used.

The Maciejowski Bible (top two pictures as well as the fifth) was a bible commissioned as a gift to the Shah of Persia, and it's the main source of information for what kind of armor and weapons 13th century medieval soldiers had. Although the pictures depict biblical events, the artists drew the warriors as they knew soldiers in their time and area to be adorned. Really interesting how people back then had no idea that weapons technology changed over time.
