Sultan Iskandar Muda

1607 to 1636

Kejayaan Aceh

Masa gemilang setelah serbuan Patih Gajah mada dari Majapahit dimulai saat :

Sultan Ali berhasil menyatukan wilayah Darud Donya serta Darul Kamal dan kemudian membangun Dinasti kerajaan Aceh yang megah.
Penaklukan wilayah ke daerah Daya, Pedir ( Pidie ), Pasai bahkan hingga menaklukkan Kesultanan Deli.

Lonceng Cakra Donya hadiah dari Laksamana Muslim pemberani dari China kepada Sultan Malik Al-Shaleh dibawa nya ke Istana Darud Donya.

Hingga saat ini, Lonceng besar yang awal nya berada dalam bahtera Cheng Ho tergantung kokoh di depan Musium Aceh.

Saat itu, jalur perdagangan laut di selat Malaka adalah sebuah rebutan.
Salah satu yang paling berkeinginan menguasai jalur rempah dunia itu adalah Portugis.
Dan pada Mei 1521, seperti tercatat dalam sejarah, pertempuran pertama pun meletus.
Armada perang Portugis di bawah pimpinan Jorge de Brito ditaklukkan Sultan Ali Mughayatsyah.
Itulah awal dari peperangan laut di selat Malaka yang kemudian di kenal dengan nama Perang 120 Tahun .

Sultan Alawuddin Riayatsyah Al-Qahhar

1537 sd 1571

Sultan Alawuddin adalah seorang penakluk ulung baik secara diplomasi maupun peperangan, beliau mewariskan tampuk kerajaan Aceh dan terus memperluas daerah kekuasaan hingga akhirnya di gelari dan terkenal dengan sebutan Al-Qahhar ( penakluk ).

Awal dari terciptanya persaudaraan Aceh-Turki hingga saat ini

Sultan sangat menyadari betul kekurangan kerajaan saat itu, beliau tidak ragu dengan meminta bantuan perlengkapan militer kepada kerajaan Turki.
Perlengkapan tersebut bukan hanya diperuntukkan untuk menghalau Portugis dari selat Malaka, tetapi juga untuk melakukan futuhat ke wilayah-wilayah yang lain khusus nya di Sumatra seperti pedalaman daerah suku Batak.

Sultan Al-Qahhar sangatlah berjasa dalam perkembangan kemajuan militer kerajaan Aceh.
Mengikat persaudaraan dengan Turki Ustmani adalah sebuah langkah besar yang dilakukan oleh Sultan.
Dan Kerajaan Aceh adalah yang pertama mengusung keKhilafahan Turki Utsmani dibawah Khalifah Sulaiman Al-Qanuni atau yang dikenal dengan Sultan Röm.

Sultan Iskandar Muda

1607 sd 1636

Puncak gemilang kejayaan kesultanan Aceh adalah saat Darma Wangsa yang bukan dari golongan Putra Mahkota memangku jabatan tertinggi sebagai seorang Sultan Aceh.
Darma Wangsa terlahir bukanlah sebagai pewaris tahta kerajaan tapi tetap menjadi ancaman para Raja yang sedang berkuasa.
Konflik didalam Istana yang disebabkan oleh para bangsawan membuat ia berhasil merebut kekuasaan kerajaan Aceh.
Darma Wangsa dinobatkan sebagai Raja Aceh dengan nama Sultan Iskandar Muda.

Kesultanan Aceh mengalami masa ekspansi yang sangat luas dimasa itu.
Sultan menaklukkan Pahang sebagai penghasil timah utama.
Dan tidak lama kemudian juga berhasil menjadikan Kedah sebagai kerajaan saudara dengan Aceh dan Sultan juga membawa ratusan penduduk Kedah ke dalam wilayah Aceh sebagai simbol persaudaraan.
Sultan dalam perjalanan kehidupan nya mendapatkan juga sebutan Meukuta Alam sebagai bentuk tauladan dari kepribadian nya.

Setelah Sultan mangkat, kerajaan Aceh juga sempat dipimpin oleh empat Sultanah dari keturunan Sultan Iskandar Muda.

Hingga akhirnya kerajaan Aceh mengalami kemunduran dan kehancuran yang diakibatkan oleh banyak faktor seperti menguatnya kekuasaan Belanda di Sumatra dan selat Malaka serta juga perebutan kekuasaan diantara pewaris tahta kerajaan.
