The biggest theatre in the ROMAN EMPIRE

in #history6 years ago

In ancient Rome, the biggest amphittheatre in the city was called the Colosseum, and is said to have derived its name from a colossal statue of Emperor Nero nearby.

As many as 60,000 people came here to watch contests between the gladiators.
The amphitheatre's machinery enabled it to fill it up with water too, to recreate the great naval battles of history!
