"View at Upper Chateaugay Lake, NY" -- postcard by HENRY M. BEACH

In 1976, when I was a teenager, I was a camp counselor at Tanager Lodge, located way out in the far distance of this photo. Ever so often, when we would canoe across the lake to socialize just down the road from where this photo was taken, we'd stow our canoes right here, almost exactly where this photographer was standing when he took this shot. Personally, this place always gave me the creeps in a strange way, although it also had a strange allure. This entire area is like this, and there are various spots of interest.
