Clinton wanted to say ‘back up, you creep’ to Trump at debate
Hillary Clinton writes in her new book that Donald Trump's attempts to "intimidate" her during the presidential debates made her "skin crawl" and that she wanted to tell him to "back up, you creep."
“What would you do? Do you stay calm, keep smiling and carry on as if he weren’t repeatedly invading your space?” the 2016 Democratic nominee asks in her new book, "What Happened," excerpts of which were released by MSNBC's "Morning Joe" early Wednesday.
“Or do you turn, look him in the eye and say loudly and clearly ‘Back up, you creep. Get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women, but you can’t intimidate me, so back up.’ "She calls her experience running for president “humbling,” "exhilarating" and “infuriating.”
"Every day I was a candidate for president, I knew that millions of people were counting on me. And I couldn't bear the idea of letting them down," she writes. "But I did. I couldn't get the job done. And I'll have to live with that for the rest of my life.
"Clinton's book is expected to also cover Russian interference in the election and the role of former FBI Director James Comey. It is set to be released Sept. 12.
