Mt Sherman Hike

Hello all! so my Dad and I have been hiking together for a few years now. My father just recently came down with stomach cancer. His physical health is on hold right now and will be for at least another year, so no hiking for us until he gets better. So for now i can post some of our recent hikes we climbed in colorado.

The first hike we did was Mt Sherman in the Mosquito range in Colorado. That was my first 14er i have done and the climb was a blast, we don’t have many pictures of the climb as they were lost from moving, i will post what i have.

The first part of this trail was pretty neat, there was some old mining buildings about to collapse that we passed, we also passed a ancient looking porta potty… My dad went in and acted like he was doing his business as i shot the picture, it was priceless. i wish i could find that photo… Anyway the way up was pretty bland unless you turned around looking at the beautiful mountain range.

Once getting to the ridge up top the view was spectacular, looking back down on how steep this thing is.

The trail was pretty mellow up to this point. Now its a scramble to the peak, some parts bending down to hold onto bigger boulders so you don’t fall with a cross breeze of about 15-30mph sometimes.
As we make our way to the peak, come up over so many spots were we think its the top then get over that hill and its so much further than suspected. The peak was beautiful!! 360 degrees was heaven.


Its like your standing on clouds, so peaceful, no cop sirens, cars, people yelling, just dead silence with some wind. Its considered my favorite place in the world, to be on top of the world is exhilerating. And remember the best part about the day is getting into your car and driving home! means you survived the mountain! Remember always hike with a buddy, take the proper gear, you never know what might happen and have a system planned for dangers beforehand. Thanks for tuning in!!!
