RE: Resource Credits-Scarcity on Steem

in #hf206 years ago

That's a great point and I've thought of it since I wrote it.

Not every interaction needs to be on chain. Influencers and brand owners are going to want to use Steem to grow their followers...which means gathering email addresses and having better capability to sell to their fans.

So without total in-house-play, you see a future where Steemit survives?

Yes.

And to put it a different way, I don't see moving some conversations and interactions off chain as what will kill Steem, if it doesn't succeed.

Think about how many people use Facebook, Reddit and Twitter as starting points to link away from those platforms.

I understand that, but everyone does this, then who will invest in the Steem currency?

You are basically okaying a backdoor to get around investing in the platform, won't that be harmful long-term to the Steem blockchain?

I don't think of off boarding people to Discord as a backdoor.

The Steem blockchain has certain limits with RCs in place. Not every conversation needs to happen on the blockchain...and yet, you and I are still talking here, and that's great.

People will buy Steem to utilize the Steem blockchain and earn rewards. Some people won't. But creating more ways for Steemians to communicate is a better way to bring in more people than forbidding or avoiding other social media altogether.
