SEC S20W3 || Anemias Morfológicas - Modulo 3
Halo teman-teman. Hari ini aku berpartisipasi pada kontes SEC S20W3 || Hematología [Anemias Morfológicas - Módulo 3]. Aku mengajak teman-teman untuk mengikuti kontes ini @patjewell @zulbahri @walictd.
Definition Anemia Morfologi
Anemia is a decrease in erythrocyte mass that causes its inability to meet the oxygen needs of peripheral tissues. Clinically, anemia can be measured by a decrease in hemoglobin levels, hematocrit, or erythrocyte count, but the most commonly used is hemoglobin level testing.
Hemoglobin levels in each individual vary depending on age, gender, altitude of the area of residence, smoking habits, pregnancy, and diseases that affect hemoglobin synthesis, red blood cell production, or red blood cell resistance such as parasitic infections, acute and chronic inflammation.
Have you ever had anemia? Attach evidence
There are several most common symptoms experienced by adolescent girls, such as fatigue, pale skin, dizziness and headaches, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dry skin and hair, swollen tongue, and a sore mouth. I have never had this disease.
Typical symptoms found in iron deficiency anemia and not found in other types of anemia are koilonychia or spoon nails, nails appear brittle, have vertical lines and are concave so that they look like spoons. Atrophy of the tongue papillae, namely the surface of the tongue that becomes shiny and slippery because the tongue papillae disappear. Angular stomatitis, namely pale whitish patches due to inflammation in the corners of the mouth. Dysphagia, namely damage to the hypopharyngeal epithelium that causes pain when swallowing. Achloridia caused by atrophy of the gastric mucosa. Pica, namely the desire to eat unusual ingredients.
Pathophysiologically, what happens with anemia?
The pathophysiology of iron deficiency anemia includes three stages, namely the stage of iron depletion or the prelatent stage, the stage of erythropoiesis disorder or the latent stage, and the last is the occurrence of anemia.
In the prelatent stage, iron stores begin to decline slowly until they become very low. Then, in the latent stage, iron stores that are reduced to almost depletion interfere with the erythropoietin process. Then, in the third stage, iron deficiency anemia occurs which shows its classic signs and symptoms.
The prelatent or iron depletion stage is the stage where iron reserves begin to decline due to inadequate nutrient intake, impaired iron absorption, or bleeding. Iron reserves decline but iron supply in erythropoiesis is still sufficient.
Clinical case
Anemia is also one of the health problems that are often found in adolescents. This can be influenced by several factors, including nutritional deficiencies to bleeding due to menstruation.
In general, some people do not show symptoms or signs. However, there are several symptoms of anemia that can be experienced by teenagers, such as:
Looking very tired
Experiencing mood swings
Skin that looks paler
Often experiencing dizziness
Experiencing jaundice (skin and eyes turn yellow)
Heartbeat beating faster than usual.
Experiencing shortness of breath, restless leg syndrome to swollen feet and hands if experiencing severe anemia.
