When you are just starting out it is important to use a upvote/follower exchange community. The best one out right now is https://www.steemengine.net/

Ive registered - see how it goes for me... feel free to resteem anything you like or comment on anything you dont like. Im just looking to better myself.
As far as just the writing goes, when I decided to focus on my writing career and make a professional living at it, it took a good two years of daily writing and submissions to any and everywhere to start to see an income, and only then my writing itself only brought in two hundred a month.
It takes time, consistently and patience. No great thing was built overnight :) But if you want it and you build it they will come :)
