Ilokano literally means "the people of the bay". This is the 3rd largest ethnolinguistic group in the Philippines. They live in the lowland northern side of Luzon specifically in Ilocos Region.

As of today there are very minimal traces of Ilokano true appearances. Most Ilokanos are now modernized embracing the flow of westernization. Only old few Ilokanos wear their dresses. When Spanish occupation happened Ilokanos embraced their influence from religion to way of dressing.

Ilokanos has their own language distinct from its neighboring tribes of Igorots. As today there so many successful Ilokanos not just here in the Philippines but also outside the country. One of the most famous president of the Philippines is an Ilokano, Ferdinand Marcos.

Ilokanos are bagged to be kuripot or Frugal people. They spent their money mostly for the education of their children rather than luxuries and great clothes. They value money and education so much. That is why there are a lot of successful Ilokanos now a days.

You can found Ilokanos in all industry: politics, sports, showbiz, science and more.
