khanduri apam

Buleun Apam is one of the names of the months in the "Aceh Almanac" of Indonesia !which is equivalent to the month of Rajab in the Hijri Calendar. Buleun means moon and apam is a kind of pancake-like food. It has become a tradition for the people of Aceh to hold Khanduri Apam to many Apam.

This tradition is often carried out in my village in South Aceh there. The activity of toet apam (cooking apam) is done by the mothers in gampoeng (kampong). Usually done alone or in groups. The first thing to do to cook apam is top teupong breuh beet (pounding flour from rice rice).

The flour is then mixed with coconut milk in a beulangong raya (large pot). This mixture is soaked for at least three hours, so that the cooked apam becomes soft. This perfect mixture is then stirred again so that it becomes liquid. This flour is taken with aweuek / iros to pour into the cooking container, which is cupule tanoh (ground dish) neuleuek.
