An essential solvent required by all forms of life on surface of earth.
Human can survive for a week without food, a day without water and a minute without with oxygen.

Daily intake of water is as follow
3.7 liters (15 cups) for the average
adult male
2.7 liters (11 cups) for the average adult
female.

  • food we eat also provide water to the body

Why the need for always intake of water;
-Maintenance of balance between body fluids.
Total body water makes 60% of the body weight.
Functions of this body fluid is to aid digestion, absorption, transportation, maintenance of body temperature.

-functioning of the Kidney; the main body toxin is urea, water helps transportation of urea to the kidney for detoxification.
Damages low intake of water can cause chronic kidney disease which can cause kidney failure

-Water help in the normal functioning of the bowel, many eat without drinking enough water, this will prolong digestion and other functions of the alimentary canal.

Water moisten body tissue and brain, lubricant for joints, protects the spinal cord.

Too much of everything is bad, over intake of water also has effect on body functions, this is called water intoxification.
Symptoms of water intoxification include;
excess urination, mental confusion,
headache, convulsion, vomitting and many others.
