3 Rules for Healthy Living
Over the course of my thirty years in bodybuilding, I have been fortunate enough to learn a few things.
One is that, most people could care less about being huge--with muscles popping everywhere.
What most people want, at least in my opinion, is to simply be healthy.
So below I am going to lay out, for me, my top three rules of being healthy.
- Do something physical everyday.
Again, I feel most people do not quite understand this--doing something physical everyday does not mean you need to put in a hard core workout--no!
It can be as simple as working in your garden--or going for a walk around the block.
Sure you can pound the pavement--or the treadmill if you want to--but, it is not necessary.
Why?
Simple.
These little activities will add up, and over the course of a year--you will notice a difference.
- Focus on what you like doing
This goes back to number one.
If you like running run, if you like tennis play tennis, if you like to lift weights--go for it!
Don't think you have to exercise a certain way because of some new information you read about.
Think about it this way, how long are you going to keep something up that you do not like doing--a day, a week maybe.
I know for myself, I love bodybuilding, not running--I have nothing against running--so I know, if I forced myself to take up running, I would not have much fun doing it--so I would not continue.
Moral of the story, pick something you like doing, and try and do it most days.
- Focus on eating the natural foods you like.
To use myself as an example, I am one of those people who likes vegetables--so I eat them daily.
However, I do not like natural applesauce--so I am not going to eat it.
So, why force yourself to eat, say, broccoli for example--if you really to not like it.
But, you like yams, so eat them instead.
Again, just like with exercise, if you focus on eating the natural, unprocessed foods you like, then you will eat them on a regular basis--and get the benefits from them
Moral of this story, enjoy what you do and eat--and you will do it for life.
