Vegan Crapes Recipe ! Easy and Cheap !

in #healthy6 years ago (edited)

Hi there !

I can’t even tell you how many times people has asked me “How do you make crapes without eggs and milk ?” .

Usually i just laugh because it’s so easy . Like i find cooking very easy so stuff such as pancakes or crapes are like the easiest after blending some hummus. I don’t know where does it come from but None vegans attempt to think that cooking plant based food is :

A. Time consuming

B. Expensive

C. Hard

So here it is very quick, cheap and easy crapes recipe that works both nice with sweet jams and chocolate or you can also fill it with beans and vegan chicken and bake it in the oven under delicious tomatoes souse!

This recipe will make about 4 medium size crapes!

Ingredients:

1 cup of self raising flour (Or all purpose with 1 tea spoon of baking powder)
1 and 1/2 cup of liquid (water or any plant based milk )
pinch of salt
1 tea spoon of oil (any oil you like)
1 tea spoon of brown sugar or agave ( Or any sugar / sweetner you like )
Now optional depending on what filling you want to have you can add :

For sweet option – add vanilla extract and if you like more sugar i find it unnecessary but if you like super sweet crapes add more sugar or agave!

For savory version – Add tea spoon of herbs , pinch of turmeric powder and black papper .

So now to the philosophy of making crapes !

Well the secret is that there is now secret! Just keep in mind this is the most easy ,quick and damn cheap version !

So you take all your ingredients and you have 3 options!

Whisk dry ingredients in separate bowl . Do the same with the wet ingredients. Combine all together .
Put everything in one bowl combine with whisk .
Do like i did when i AKA don’t have time -read -baby is stuck to my hip . Put all ingredients in your blender and blend for couple of seconds to one minute depending on a blender and its done !
Preheat your pan and this is super important with crapes to have pan preheated!

If you have a awesome non stick pan great you don’t need oil ! Mine is old but i love it so i have to add small tiny drop of coconut oil and spread evenly so my crapes don’t stick in the middle.

So now it’s time to make crapes!

Use a soup spoon for pouring the butter and spread evenly with a bottom of the spoon .

Flip your crape when the butter has a “bubble” on top and bottom is golden .

Done !

Ow btw if you have any recommendations for non stick pan please let me know !

Have a great day !

I recently bought a set of cookware called "Circulon Premier Professional" that are not inexpensive, but were in the mid-range of prices. I bought because I have an induction electric stovetop and needed ferrous cookware, but the non-stick feature is incredible. Excuse the quick uncropped photos from my phone.
