Foods that have to be limited to people with hypertension
There are several types of foods that should be avoided by people with high blood pressure or hypertension so as not to worsen health conditions, especially in Eid al-Adha. Neurologist from RSCM Jakarta, dr. Amanda Tiksnadi, Sp.S (K). called mutton as one of them.
"Mutton compared to other meats has the potential to increase blood pressure suddenly, therefore at events such as Eid al-Adha, which many curries, we found the incidence of acute stroke," said Amanda.
For those whose blood pressure is in the number 200, it is better to limit the intake of beef.
Some people have high tension, red meat is recommended to be reduced because it contains higher purine. This purine will cause uric acid to rise high, which is a high risk factor for stroke, heart disease, and kidney problems, "said Amanda.
Compared to meat, you should choose fish or chicken because the purine levels are lower. In addition, pay attention to the intake of vegetables such as grains because of their high purine content.
"Of plants that contain purines, one of them is grain. Although healthy but too much kale, melinjo, nuts, increase gout. Restricted, not not permissible," said Amanda.
Other food ingredients that need to be limited are salt. Restrictions can be by not putting additional salt on the table.
On different occasions, hypertension expert Dr. Arieska Ann Soenarta, SpJP, FIHA, FAsCC suggested a daily intake of salt no more than 5 grams or less than one teaspoon.
Then, for severe hypertensive patients it is usually recommended to take a low-salt I diet (200-400 mg Na) and a low-salt II diet (600-800 mg Na equal to 1/2 teaspoon) for severe hypertension. Whereas for patients with mild hypertension to do a low salt III diet at (1000-1200mg Na equal to 1 teaspoon a day).
