Everyday as humans food is part of what we include in our daily activities. Eating good food is so important because of the benefit we derive from it. These benefits are as a result of the composition or constituent of what we eat or drink as food. In other to live a lifestyle of health we must as a matter of fact eat good food and maintain healthy habits. In recent times eating has been one of the things people have taken for granted until they are faced with a situation in which they are unable to eat. The loss of the ability to eat(anorexia) is similar to any loss we may experience in our lives. You Are What You Eat is a statement that was stated a very long time ago which means the "food one eats has a connection with one's state of mind and health.

Food is an essential part of everyones live.it gives us the energy and nutrient to grow and develop,be healthy and active,to move,work,play,think and learn.
The body needs a variety of the following nutrients

Proteins: this type of nutrient is needed to build,maintain and repair muscles,blood,skin,bones and other body tissues and organs. Foods rich in protein include

Carbohydrates: this are nutritional components responsible for providing the body with it main source of energy. They are classified as either starch eg rice,maize,wheat,potato etc or sugars eg fruits,honey,sweets and chocolate bars

Fats and Oils: this is another energy source to the body .it is a secondary source of energy although it provides more energy to the body ( calories) than other nutrients, it is more difficult to burn. Foods rich in fats include butter,lard,milk,cheese oils ands some meats

Vitamins and Minerals: vitamins and minerals are needed in small quantities but are essential for good health.they control many functions and processes in the body. For example Calcium which is a mineral is needed in help build body tissues such as bones,while iron is needed for the blood.

Water: water isvvery essential for a healthy diet,water can be derived through absorption from food or direct intake . water helps to increase the movement of food when consumed also plays other roles in the body such as the joint where it aids movement. A clean glass of water is needed to help manage dehydration. Water remains the best option to quench taste. Some sources of water in food components include.

When all this nutrients are combined in a meal it is called a balanced diet

A proper combination of this nutrient sources is very important to our health. The consequences of not having a balanced diet are numerous ,for example if you do not eat enough protein it affects proper growth.likewise,if you do not eat enough energy containing foods eg carbohydrates and fats you will feel very tired and if you eat too much energy containing food you will be overweight.

Being overweight is also know as obesity. When an individual eats too much of some certain foods types for example Saturated fats with other energy providing foods without proper workout this will lead to being overweight. Being overweight increases your chances of Heart failure,diabetes,high blood pressure, stroke or some forms of cancer

Staying healthy daily entails you paying attention to what you eat ,when you eat and the quantity you eat per time. There are no shortcuts to having a healthy lifestyle . it takes discipline and commitment to achieve a healthy lifestyle. To start with all you need to do are

  1. Pay attention to your food combination daily
  2. Ensure your food contains at least 3 of the mentioned nutrient with water making it 4
  3. Avoid eating large quantities at a time rather request for smaller chunks
  4. Drink enough water
  5. Eat fruits before meals
  6. Do not go to bed immediately after meals
  7. Have a workable exercise plan that you can committed to
  8. Ensure you always take breakfast,because the body needs the energy to function,
  9. Eat less fatty foods
  10. Fast sometimes ,helps the body .
