The Weeds Can Heal Humans - Here's the Humble Dandelion
We don't even have to plant the medicine, y'all--it just pops up like weeds!
Dandelion here is awesome for detox, particularly of the liver and blood. It is anti-inflammatory, high in antioxidants, and has been shown to have anti-cancer properties! That's pretty awesome for growing up out of the dirt for free.
The leaves, roots, and flowers can be eaten or steeped in tea. The greens are slightly bitter, so a little goes a long way. I like to use handfuls of the leaves along with handfuls of basil to make a pesto by blending with olive oil, garlic, sunflower seeds, parmesan cheese, and a little lemon and himalayan salt.
Ha! How classic - my mom @lizziesworld wrote an article just a couple of days ago - not only on the same "weed" but also with the same title... hehe.
My mom is a HUGE green fingers - you would probably enjoy her blog @saramiller :)

As for the dandelion and nature in general - I think there are actually SO many that are overlooked when in comes to the endless benefits they offer.
Gotta love dandelion. I used to think, like so many others, that it was a weed that needs to be pulled up and poisoned to death. It was only so many years later that my dad told me my great grandmother used to pick it from their yard and use it in all kinds of food. Gotta love the old generation knowing all of these edible goodies growing all around us!
I love dandelion greens and they make great soap too.
