8 Cancer Symptoms Women Often Ignore

in #health7 years ago

Talking about worrying symptoms shouldn't make people overreact,

but I don't want to give people the impression they should look for every little thing.

With that healthy balance between denial and hypochondria in mind,

we talk about the symptoms that may not immediately make a woman worry about cancer,

but that should be checked by a doctor.

Here are 8 symptoms, which are serious even if they don’t always mean cancer,

people will often overlook or ignore that could be harmful in the long run:

1. Breast Changes.

Most breast lumps aren’t cancer, but your doctor should always check them.

Let her know about changes such as skin dimpling, skin puckering, nipples that turn inward,

nipple discharge, or redness and scaling of the nipple or breast skin.

2. Skin Changes.

A change in the size, shape, or color of a mole or other spot is a common sign of skin cancer.

See your doctor for a thorough exam and perhaps a biopsy. This is one time you don't want to wait.

3. Bleeding Between Periods.

Bleeding which is not part of your usual menstrual cycle can have many causes, but your doctor

will want to rule out endometrial cancer. Bleeding after menopause is never normal and should be checked right away.

4. Chronic headaches.

If you’re not prone to migraines and never get headaches, but suddenly find yourself popping ibuprofen every day,

it could be a symptom of a brain tumor, which causes pain by pressing on nerves.

5. Heartburn.

Stress, alcohol, and too much food can cause heartburn. Try changing your diet for a couple weeks and

see if it goes away… If it doesn’t? You may have stomach, esophageal, or ovarian cancer.

6. Changes in the nails.

Any kind of changes on your nails can indicate serious diseases including cancer.

White or pale nails can be an indication of liver cancer, while clubbing on the nails may be a sign of lung cancer.

7. Fever.

If you have an unexplained fever that does not seem to go away, it might mean that

you have leukemia or another blood cancer. Just consult your doctor and do some exams to be sure.

8. Mouth Changes.

Watch for white or bright-red patches inside your mouth or on your lips if you smoke.

Both can be a sign for oral cancer. Make sure you do some tests or treatments if you should.
