Fructose Raises Uric Acid Levels. If You Have Gout, You Must Stop Eating Sugar.
Most people and doctors are unaware of this,
probably because of the sugar industry, but fructose consumption causes a significant increase in uric acid production within minutes of absorption by the body.
Fructose is known to induce uric acid production by increasing ATP degradation to AMP, a uric acid precursor (85, 93, 94) and thus, within minutes after fructose infusion, serum uric acid levels rise (94).

In addition, fructose is statistically linked to gout.
Prospective data suggest that consumption of sugar sweetened soft drinks and fructose is strongly associated with an increased risk of gout in men. Furthermore, fructose rich fruits and fruit juices may also increase the risk. Diet soft drinks were not associated with the risk of gout.

In the research of medicine we rely on two kinds of proof in order to evaluate the relationship between diseases and the causes of disease. These two kinds of proof are experimental and statistical. What this means is that if you can prove experimentally, using controls to eliminate other possible contributing factors, that a circumstance correlates with a disease and you can show that statistically the disease and the circumstance are correlated then you have shown tentative evidence for at least one pathology. I say one because a disease can have more than on cause, like how cancer can be caused by multiple things.
