Ralf`s book of superfoods and nutrition - part 3
Fruits and nuts
Superfood fruits and nuts are high in antioxidants that fight free radicals in the body. Some fruits and nuts are particularly mentioned, such as Gojibeere, Cocoa, Maca, Coconut, Walnut, Tomato and Blueberry.
Other interesting fruits and nuts are: Acai berry, Noni, Pomegranate, Paranuts and Cashews. There is a special information about nuts.
Acai berries have long been a part of the diet of the tribes in the Amazon. Açaí is packed with antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids.
The berry has strong antioxidant properties thanks to a high content of anthocyanins, namely 10 - 30 times more than in red wine. They are, of course, rich in omega-amino acids, electrolytes, proteins and vitamins A, B1 and E in combination with valuable trace elements. The fatty acid content resembles that of the olive oil. Use Acai berries for digestive problems, skin irritation, sexual dysfunction and even insomnia. For diabetics the berries are perfect because they contain little sugar.
Be sure to get the cold dried acai fruits where the nutrients are kept intact or when buying the juice look for a brand that has not been pasteurized or heated in any way.
Noni - This fruit has been used by Polynesian islanders for over 1500 years as a regenerative medicine. Studies have shown that the noni fruit has amazing antibacterial properties, even against E-coli bacteria. It has anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory properties, acts as a pain reliever, promotes cell repair and strengthens the immune system. Noni contains a variety of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and secondary plantings. Many believe that it is the synergistic effect of the multi-spectrum nutrients, giving it their potency. It has proved to be beneficial for colds and flu, digestive disorders, skin disorders, pain, headaches, infections and more. The best results are provided by the freeze-dried product, which contains only the whole fruit or when purchasing the juice, look for a non-pasteurized brand.
The Maqui berry also comes from South America and has twice as many antioxidants as the Acai berry. The Maqui berry is meant to strengthen the immune system, reduce the risk of a heart attack, promote circulation, metabolism, and the relief of the skin alters promise. Current studies are researching how the maqui berry is suitable for cancer treatment. Results so far indicate that the course of the disease can be inhibited and the healing process can be strengthened. However, hasty decisions should not be made. A long-term effect of the Maqui berry has yet to be confirmed and has not yet been fully explored.
