HOMEMADE FIG JAM RECIPE BABY, WITH A KICK OF CARDAMOM!
Hello Fellow Foodies,
My family is Persian and we are JAM-AHOLICS. We have an organic fruit orchard ranch and make our own products for local farmers markets in Southern California. One of our specialties is JAM! You name it, it's been jammed. We got us some Jammin like ... Strawberry, Mulberry, Blackberry, King Mulberry, Fig, Pomegranate, Orange Peel, Kumquat, Lemon Peel, and a bit more! Since it's fig season, I made us some Fig Jam, with a Cardamom twist. Won't overload you with too much verbiage, let's get straight to the point!
6 Simple steps!
~ 4lbs organic fresh figs
~ 3 cups organic raw cane sugar
~ 8 cardamom pods (grind them)
~ 1/2 cup freshly squeezed organic lemon juice
~ 1/2 cup water
~ 3 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
Add sugar to figs in a bowl, mix evenly, and cover for 1 hour in fridge
Place figs in cooking pot add lemon juice and cardamom
Bring to boil and simmer for 20 minutes, stir often
Place mix in the fridge covered for 4 hours
After 4 hours or more, blend the mix in a blender
Place mix back in the cooking pot, recook till it boils, add vinegar and simmer for 10 minutes, frequently mixing.
Let cool for 10 minutes, place the mix in sterile jars and enjoy the next day! WALAH
