New Delhi: In a shocking incident, doctors have removed more than 200 gallstones from the body a 45-year-old woman in China.
According to a report in The Sun, the woman, identified as Ms Chen, claimed that her stomach pain started more than 10 years ago but her fear of surgery kept her from seeking medical aid.
But recently her pain became unbearable and she had to have the gallstones removed.Ms Chin went to Guangji Hospital, in Hezhou, where tests showed that there were a number of gallstones in her body.
It is believed the stones were built up over the years.
Surgeons conducted the surgery which took six-and-a-half hours and removed the stones from the gallbladder and bile ducts.
Some of the stones were quite large, almost as big as eggs.
Doctors said that skipping breakfast was the reason behind the appearance of the stones.
As per the reports, Dr Quanwei Wei, a general surgeon, said the stones could have resulted from her habit of skipping breakfast. Ms Chen had not eaten breakfast for eight years.
Dr Quanwei Wei said that if someone misses breakfast it stops their gallbladder from shrinking or expanding, leading to a build-up of bile.
