British Columbia says they still don't know how the teen was infected by bird flu.

Nearby environmental testing was negative. However genomic sequencing indicates the teen was infected with a similar virus that was circulating in wild birds in the area.

The teen is stable but in critical condition in the hospital. She's been hospitalized for two and a half weeks.

They haven't identified further cases and there is no evidence of human to human transmission.
