Prep meals for the next week!!!
Having a a family and running multiple very small businesses is challenging. I think the toughest thing is managing time. I am constantly developing day to day strategies to become more effieicent. The crazy thing is if I keep trying I can truly acquire the skills for efficiency. It's amaing what you can do with a baby in 1 arm and the other left for the task. If anyone has any time saving ideas I would love to hear them!!
Here is one of mine!!!
Today I am focusing on my meals. I cut up a a number of greens that will hopefully last us 2 days. I have to make sure I have specific cuts for the adults and the baby. Greens are foods that need cut up every couple days no matter what!! So I can't cut up a weeks worth at one time.
Now on to the chicken. We had a huge meat sale at our market so I bought 20lbs of chicken and cut it all up and separated it into bags. I just want to pull it out of the fridge or freezer and get to cooking asap! The chicken cooked can last 5-7 days refrigerated properly, so you don't have to be as frequent as the vegetable prep.
My wife is Laotian so I am instructed to use every bit of the chicken. It's impressive how little waste that culture can creat!! I have been learning a lot from them. Expand your mind and meet other cultures!
The carbohydrate I use the most now is white rice. Yes it can spike the insulin higher faster than brown rice or other carbs, but if you combine it will a lot of greens you can keep the insulin from spiking and then dropping. The greens provide the fiber needed for that process! Learning to combine foods for their most effectiveness is key! I don't believe our society understands this concept. People need to understand to have a balanced diet means other food groups can complete what is each one is lacking. Remember to add it all up!!!
Now on to the fruit!! The body needs all the vitamins, minerals, and yes plant sugar you can get from fruits! Sugar has gotten a terrible rap, but that's because it's sugar without fiber. Plant sugar can give you that boost of enegery quick and can allow you to workout harder and longer. Many meal plans I see never include fruit. This is a big mistake! The body craves the things in fruits so give it what it needs!!!
