Do You Think We Could Have Handled The Coronavirus Better?

Everybody everywhere is aware of the current pandemic ravishing tens of thousands of people in most countries. Funny enough, as of January, these whole thing was just a rumor of a (not so serious sickness) happening in Wuhan China. My question now is, do you think countries could have prevented this pandemic if they took precautions as early as January? I'm just thinking out loud.
