Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, better known as 'PCOS'.

It is when small cysts grow in a woman's ovary or ovaries. Me, I have them on both ovaries. But these cysts are not harmful, benign as they say. However, PCOS is something that should not be neglected and should be taken seriously. Here's why:

PCOS can be detected via Transvaginal Ultrasound. It can be determined based on ovaries' appearance but in reality, PCOS is a hormonal disorder. People think that it's about the ovaries but it's more to that.

What are hormones by the way? How important are they? Hormones are the body's chemical messengers. They travel through the bloodstream to tissues and organs, and control most of our body's major systems. In this simple description, you'll now know how crucial the role of a single hormone is.

Having PCOS which is a hormonal disorder is no joke. Not just hormonal change or imbalance but a disorder. Hormonal disorder. Can you imagine how massive effect it can cause? If hormones are not working well, tendecy is it will send wrong signals or messages from one or organ or body part to another. It may even cause confusion on our body organs. That is why one of the most common symptom of PCOS is having irregular or having no preiod (menstruation) at all. It may even cause insulin resistance which may lead to diabetes and may cause heart diseases. Not to mention having acnew break out, too much hair growth and alike. This also affect fertility and worst, PCOS causes depression. Having hormonal imbalance affects one's state - physically, mentally and most especially , emotionally.

Being affected emotionally is the worst part. You'll cry over simple things and every emotion you'll have is somewhat like always on its extremes. If you're sad, you are sooooo sad. If you are mad, you are too mad. And the sad part is, no matter how hard you control it, it's almost impossible as your hormones (that sends signal and likely to cotrol your organs) are the ones affected. :( Which may eventually lead to arguments, restless minds, extreme mood swings which could end up losing someone or somthing they love.

Let's all raise awareness on understanding people or women with PCOS. They need more understanding and patience. Let's always practice empathy. We may not feel or know how someone feels but we have to be sensitive enough to know that everyone has feelings. PCOS affected ones need care more than we can think of. It's definitely not easy having one. It's absolutely more than how we hear or see it. We all know one woman at some point of our lives and they could be one of those with this syndrome. Let's spread awareness and love!
