Eating Certain Foods Together Helps the Body Absorb Nutrients More Efficiently
Spinach + Strawberries:
The PH level of your stomach makes it hard to absorb iron from plants, so by adding some Vitamin C, your body can convert the iron more effectively. By just adding 100 milligrams of Vitamin C, iron absorption is boosted by 400%.
Other good combos include black beans & red peppers.
Raw veggies + Eggs:
Raw vegetables have disease-fighting corotenoids, but these are harder to absorb for the body without the help of the fat present in egg yolks. By eating eggs with your vegies, you can absorb 3X more corotenoids!
Turmeric + Black Pepper:
Turmeric contains curcumin, which is effective at treating neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases, according to some studies. And peperine, found in high concentration in black pepper, aids in the absorption of curcumin.
Salads + oil dressings:
Oils allow corotenoids to be absorbed more affectively - just like the fats from egg yolks.
Meat + Rosemary:
When meat is cooked at high temperature, heterocyclic amines are released, which some animal studies have linked to certain types of cancers, but what effects these compounds have in humans is yet unknown. By adding some Rosemary on your meat before cooking, you can benefit from the antioxidant properties of the plant as it inhibit the formation of these heterocyclic amines.
Sweet potatoes + Spinach:
Vitamin A is abundant in sweet potatoes, however, the body needs ample supply of zinc to transfer all that Vitamin A in the blood. So, by pairing Spinnach (rich in zinc) with sweet potatoes, the body is able to transport Vitamin A much more efficiently.
