E-HEALTH IN NIGERIA - TODAY AND TOMORROW
The use of ICT in education facilitates the training of health professionals, which has special relevance when these they are working in isolated places, but also to speed up the exchange of knowledge between study centers. In turn, an offer continuous remote favors the installation and permanence of professionals in those places. Together with the aforementioned contributions to efficiency, today, in a context of growing volume of data and complexity of information and knowledge in health, increase storage capacity, aggregation and analysis to integrate administrative, clinical and health information, it is fundamental in the decision making of any health organization.
Special mention should be made of the potential of ICT in the creation of common health spaces that favor the mobility of citizens, allowing them to make use of health services and systems regardless of their place of origin. In this area of potentialities the adoption of standards for interoperability is key. Applications such as the HCE and the single health card are cases paradigms for the generation of a common health area, since they facilitate largely the integration process, both of the different health centers nationally as international. The HCE requires sharing information health over patients, in a simple, safe way and preserving the original meaning of the data.
Understanding the characteristics and transformations in the health of the population can increase thanks to the exploitation of databases every more complex time, those that are powered by the EHR and the devices of televigilance. Among other potentialities, it offers new possibilities for epidemiological surveillance, while strengthening the capacities to describe, model, analyze and monitor trends in health conditions.
