By all means go on a PPI short term if you have a ulcer. Just don't stay on it for years.

Many ulcers are caused by H. pylori or medications so it isn't necessarily because of high stomach acid. If those other two issues were dealt with properly you likely wouldn't get the ulcer in the first place.
