COFFEE WILL KILL YOU SLOWLY FROM THE INSIDE

in #health7 years ago (edited)

Like most, if not all of you, I LOVE coffee. I love the smell of it. I love the focus it provides. And I especially love the culture that it has built for itself over the two decades. Hell, I’m drinking a cup now – black dark roast. I love coffee so much that it saddens me, because I know my body hates it– my adrenal glands are fatigued..and I’m pretty sure most of yours are too.

I would say that I am a relatively healthy guy. I work out 5 days a week and I eat clean- I started noticing feeling overly exhausted, moody and extremely anxious at times. I could be standing in line and feel myself fall into a panic attack. I was eager to find the source of my underling issues as it was really starting to affect my life – I’ve had friends tell me that I looked tired - that’s not a good look.
After cutting out non essentials and revamping my diet, I had concluded the root cause was my daily vice – my 8am, 12pm, 3pm, 5pm coffee binges.

I had a personal conversation with my physician and she mentioned that I may be suffering from adrenal fatigue syndrome – she hit the nail on the head.

SO WHAT IS IT?
Adrenal-Fatigue.jpg

A quick search shows: “adrenal fatigue is said to be caused by high levels of chronic stress that lead to a taxing of the adrenal glands, forcing them to overproduce or under produce cortisol, the stress hormone, at the wrong times.”
Basically, from my basic understanding, adrenal glands pump out cortisol in times of need. Coffee basically tells your glands, “hey, can you produce a little more? I’m tired!” So your adrenal works overtime to give you that extra boost.
Over time, after days and months of coffee binging, your adrenal glands become so overworked that they simply have nothing left to give- hence why you uptake your cups of the bean. Your Adrenal fatigue can cause you to become anxious, depressed, constantly tired, and in my case, feeling dead and just not living in the present.
I made the conscious decision to go caffeine and coffee free, for as long as I could, in hopes that I could cure myself of this rut that I had put myself in. I just wasn’t feeling good about myself and it was time for a change. STAT.

NO MORE COFFEE

The first couple weeks was difficult. Cold turkey sucks, and I often found myself sitting and staring.
Overall productivity became nonexistent.
Things started to look way up at the three week mark.
I began to notice a significant improvement in my overall mood.
I no longer needed to snooze 5 times in the morning and felt a natural aura of happiness.
I no longer craved coffee. I began to notice signs of adrenal fatigue syndrome in everyone that drank coffee.
Most importantly, my anxiety subsided – dramatically. I felt normal…actually better than normal.
Of course, after a few weeks, I gave in and decided to try a cup of my old friend again – for nostalgic reasons.
Immediately, I felt old feelings of anxiety and which helped me confirm that coffee just isn’t for me.

FINAL WORDS

I’m not saying to give up coffee completely but it might be worthwhile to give your body a little break. The say it may take your adrenal glands months, if not years to fully recover back at optimal health.
So, the next time you ask yourself why you’re still tired after that third or fourth cup, put it down and think back to this article. The answer is that you adrenal glands are fatigued!!
