I've been on Lansoprazol for years, if I don't take one a day I wouldn't be able to function correctly, I get cramps, acidity, heartburn and reflux if I don't swallow that pill.
That is partially the thing that I don't like about PPI's is that they create dependency. I think my next post will be about this and their side effects.
The low stomach acid that they cause creates a rebound in the heartburn that a person experiences when coming off of it causing longterm dependence. You obviously would need a plan when coming off of it and not just cold turkey to be able to avoid the rebound. If you don't have a serious hiatal hernia it should be possible.
