Number one flaw in health care
I believe the biggest flaw in health care is that we use all our energy to fight the patients disease. When instead we should focus on improving the quality of the person's life. When we fight things we immediately activate the fight or flight response. Therefore, when we approach a disease from a fighting standpoint, we immediately elicit the stress response in the patient. In turn, the person's stress increases strain on their circulatory, digestive and immune system and thus greatly inhibiting their body's ability to heal. On the other hand, by focusing on improving a person's life you bring about comfortability and relaxation in the person. You make the person at ease and in turn help alleviate their dis-ease. Furthermore, relaxed states of being encourage extensive healing in the body. Scientific evidence show laughter and physical touch (hugs) greatly improve immune system function and reduce cortisol levels. Instead of fighting what we hate we should try promoting what we love.
